If you just need webspace then
you most likely have a website developed, or you are a web developer, advanced computer
user and you may save money doing your website(s) yourself. If so, you can save
money and even benefit from partnering with us to resell space
that you support, manage and provide billing for your clients.
Web Publishing requires
knowledge of HTML, properly locating and linking documents, FTPing Webspace contents, graphics design, layout, audio/video, image maps, security, CGI Scripting,
which requires a knowledge of the UNIX operating system environment, Tar & Gunzip
commands, PERL, shells, scripts, file permissions...

Managed Services are support
and professional services beyond the standard technical server support which every
AlterCom client receives. These services are divided into categories: Consulting, Graphics
Design, Programming, Development,
System Administration (UNIX ™ or NT
™), Database Administration, Backup Services, and Monitoring Services.
When managed services are
required, time, labor and resources are involved, thus costing more. Additionally, for Web
development there is a need to store about 3 to 10 times the amount of data on one of our
Graphics Workstations. We keep graphics, copy, web pages and other files stored there as
well as on one of our Web Servers and ready for any changes when you are.
There are reports of people
spending tens of thousands of dollars to put up a few pages. Then you hear about the science project of a high school kid who puts up
12 pages for $400. The best measure of a site is not its price or its page count but its
effectiveness.
Effectiveness, of course, is
more difficult to pin down. It's tough to define and even tougher to get the hard data
needed so that effectiveness can be measured.
It is the responsibility of a
professional designer to help clients set realistic objectives for their site, based on
their experience and research. Professional designers don't leave their clients at all.
They build effective sites that meet objectives and work to maintain the site to enhance
its effectiveness.

server services based only on price we might not be the lowest price in town. If you have
